RESTAURANT:  Mighty Quinn's DATE: March 3,2014 LOCATION: 103 2nd Ave New York, NY 10003     Mighty Quinn’s BBQ – definitely packed with mighty taste at this East Village eatery.  At the corner of 6 th  Street & 2 nd  Ave, this casual space is very warm and inviting with its reclaimed wooden tables and walls.  The front window looks like a glass garage door... I wonder if it actually opens up during the summertime.  (Note:  We were here during poofy down-coat weather, so it is a bit chilly and drafty sitting by the glass window, which also is in the crosswind from the front door!)  The food at Mighty Quinn’s does not fall short in letting only its strong, rustic décor speak for its appeal. RESTAURANT:  Mason Jar DATE: April 5, 2014 LOCATION: 43 East 30th Street New York, NY 10016 Okay folks, winter is finally OVER and Saturday was the first gorgeous, no-hat day in what seems like FOR.EVA! So, to stretch our legs and start curing our cabin fever, the boy and I went into the city to try out a new barbecue place, mostly because he loves pulled pork and because I'll eat anything. So for this particular gastric excursion we hit up Mason Jar on east 30th street.  First off, a drink:  This is a  Kentucky cooler (Bourbon, orange, grenadine, Dark rum) Delicious, but weak. Tasted mostly like orange juice with a only the aroma of bourbon hitting you at the end of your sip. Secondly,  The pictures of the appetizers are totally horrible because we were starving and we inhaled half of it in about 2 minutes after the waitress set it down on the table. You Haven't Had A Grilled Cheese Like This

RESTAURANT:  Jack's Wife Freda DATE: April 7th, 2015 LOCATION: 50 Carmine Street, New York, NY 10014 Jack's Wife Freda is an eatery as charming as the name sounds.  White tiled floors, marble counters and long tables with cushy seated benches makes this place an attractive date-night spot.  I was here back in April, but my taste buds still recall most of the dishes the girls & I ordered. Salt & Pepper Eggplant  — I love eggplant but I was afraid this would be a plain and boring dish.  It was a pleasant surprise that the eggplant had a nice crunch/fried texture to the outside.  I liked this eggplant dish so much, I've attempted to recreate that slightly fried texture when I cook eggplant myself but have been unsuccessful so far. Spiced Beet Dip —As somebody who doesn't usually have beets in my gastronomic vocabulary, I enjoyed this dip a lot.  And anything is better with crumbled cheese on top! Mint Lemonade ...
