DATE: Summer 2015 LOCATION: La Puerta 560 4th Ave, San Diego, CA 92101 Brrr... the below freezing winter NYC temperatures has me guzzling cups of hot chocolate, but to keep my mind on warmer times, I will go on a nostalgic high of this past summer. I spent 2 glorious, warm, sunny sky weeks in California back in August. The hubster & I did a road trip driving north, up the Pacific Coast Highway from San Diego,  Santa Monica/LA, Santa Barbara, Big Sur, Monterey and lastly San Francisco. So that I can still reminisce over my amazing vacation, I'll be taking this East Coast blog to the flip-side, with a mini-series of West Coast Eats , starting off with the 1st city we ate at: San Diego . Before I get into the meat and potatoes of this blog, I just have to say I really enjoyed San Diego. Some of my favorite notable areas to visit were Balboa Park, Old Town and the Gaslamp Quarter. For fellow millennials & super foodies out there, Gaslamp Quarter was THE place

Santa Rita in Austin Texas

This wasn't the last stop on my latest Austin Adventure, but it was definitely my favorite. Santa Rita Cantina  is adorable with its updated take on a Mexican themed fiesta. The oranges, and pinks make the place feel bright, airy and happy. The artwork is displayed in a very clean and modern manner. I was poised to love this place from the moment I walked in and luckily the food didn't disappoint. It is definitely a huge let down when a place is so cool and fun and then the food is mediocre. First I ordered a margarita! Yay, margaritas! I started to sip one before our appetizer came out, but then remembered that if I drink too much before my food shows up I can't taste it, so I stopped and then didn't pick it back up until after I was half way through my entree.  I INTERRUPT THIS POST TO BRING YOU A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: We got chips and salsa, and I realize now that I have left something out that is very important from my Texas posts. Ever since my first trip

Hey Again,  After the amazingly lucky discovery of  pizza  right across the street from my Austin apartment, I had loads of more noshing to do.  Let's start with my least favorite meal of the week at Tacodeli .  Someone recommended Tacodeli after I told them how much I enjoyed  Torchy's .  This meal included two tacos: the  Tacoloco:  Adobo braised brisket, caramelized onions, mushrooms, guacamole, cilantro, queso fresco and the  Pollo Fantastico:  Free range chicken, roasted green chile sauce, crema mexicana, green onions . It also came with a side of rice and beans, naturally. The Tacoloco was actually pretty delicious and juicy but I really only noticed the beef and cilantro. The supporting actors in this taco failed to perform. The Pollo Fantastico, was a little less fantastico . The chicken is stewed and was also very juicy, but the extra toppings stood out, but not in a great way. I didn't really care for the green onions as they overpowered everything. The ric

DATE: JAN 2016 LOCATION:  Brooklyn Pie Co Burnet Road Austin, TX Hey Y'all! I just got back from another trip to ATX. And my favorite thing to do when I go away is eat, so I'm about to hit you with a bunch of awesome food! Pizza, Coffee, tacos, and burgers oh my! Let's start at the beginning shall we!  I am a New Yorker, my fiance is a New Yorker and with our decision to move to Texas we knew we would miss pizza. Not only miss it, but be real stubborn about finding a GOOD enough replacement. On our first few trips to Austin we decided to just load up on the barbecue and the Tex-Mex because we needed to acclimate our palettes. And by we I mean me because I'm kind of a spicy light weight. Since my fiance now officially lives there and this was my fourth trip out I figured it was time to get some research done. I looked up a few lists titled something like "Best Pizza in Austin." I Studied their reviews, their photo documentation and figured that we
